Mental Health Support Services (MHSS)
The Salvation Army’s Mental Health Support Service’s mission is to inspire clients to have maximum quality of life, independence, and a strong community engagement that promotes wellness and safety.
The Salvation Army Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) program provides individualized services to adults with a diagnosis of serious and persistent mental illness. MHSS encompasses both Group Supported Living (GSL), and Independent Living Service (ILS) programs.
Our Programs seek to Accomplish its Mission by:
¨ Supporting program participants to maintain stability while living in their own homes, or in the group supported living residence, and thus reduce hospital admissions or need for Southern placements.
¨ Enabling program participants to increase their independent living skills.
¨ Supporting program participants in achieving their chosen lifestyle and quality of life including access to family, community, and their respective cultures.
¨ Providing medication administration and supervision.
¨ Providing residents with stable/safe accommodation and appropriate supports.
¨ Providing program participants access to mental health supports, health care coordination, community activities, and individualized services needed to enhance strengths and develop skills necessary to meet their individual service plan goals.
